This is a handmade child's silk parade hat from Tibet. The detailed stitching and design shows time and patience from an artisan long ago. There is exquisite detail. A combination of silk and linen, with embroidered threads for detail. Represented are eyes, a puffy nose, and a large mouth of teeth and tongue, and it extends out to represent the long spine of a dragon. The teeth and gums are made by making tiny folds in the fabric. It is no doubt that the creater of this impressive piece of folk art had a vivid imagination!
Vivid red, burgandy, and pink show well against a sage green base, with long aqua green threads going all the way down the crest to the end of the "tail."
This is one of the cleanest parade hats we have. The interior is superb with a bright red lining. The colors show very brightly. It is very excellent for its age. As with its long age, it has some light dirt spots here or there. We recommend that you enjoy displaying them as they are, with no cleaning. We do not sell any parade hats that we feel anyone would be disappointed with when they receive them.
Approx. Dimensions: 7 inches deep, base is 6 inches in diameter, and including the tail is 14 inches long. This is a one of a kind item. Once it is sold, it will no longer be available. We may have similar items now or in the future.
